The partnership between Mitsubishi and Hiflex started with numerous live JDF presentations on important exhibitions such as Drupa, Graph Expo/Print etc. The world-wide
first real-life JDF implementation "Mitsubishi / MIS" was realized at PDC Tangen in Oslo, Norway, and included JDF-connectivity between five Mitsubishi printing presses
and the Hiflex MIS (April 2006). This implementation won the CIP4 Innovation Award 2007. |

Mitsubishi and Hiflex regularly demonstrate the status quo of the JDF-link between their systems (Mitsubishi democenter in Chicago, USA, and Hiflex CIM Center in Aachen, Germany).
These live demos show the efficiency improvements of networked production via JDF. |

The JDF-capable Mitsubishi IPC Server acts as the point of contact between a Mitsubishi printing press and the MIS. Hiflex MIS transfers the production-related parameters to
IPC Server for automatic presetting of a Mitsubishi printing press. |
As soon as the job is ready for print the IPC Server receives administrative data (order ID, order name, customer data) and technical data (product info such as format,
press run, paper, number of plates/colors) from Hiflex via JDF. The IPC Server transfers the data to the IPC Terminal (press control system) of the Mitsubishi printing
press. During production JMF feedback from the Mitsubishi IPC Server is fed into Hiflex MIS, and production data such as progress on the job (in percent), good sheets and
waste, speed, and status of the machine (e.g. idle, set up, preparing, washing, production in progress) is automatically transferred into Hiflex Scheduling and Hiflex
Shop Floor Data Collection. This provides reliable info about the actual production status as well as an exact data basis for job costing. |

Norwegian offset printer implements HIFLEX MIS and JDF between five different vendors' systems and realizes ROI of 1847% . PDC Tangen from Oslo is the first Scandinavian
printer that implemented JDF connectivity. Starting early in 2006, they to date have realized most convincing results of process automation implementation which earned them
the 2007 CIPPI Award in the category "Best cost/benefit realization as a result of process automation implementation". The case story of PDC Tangen revealed impressive
benefits of the JDF implementation: an increase in the turnover by 20% (+ EUR 5.2 Mio / NOK 40,6 / USD 7,17), a productivity increase of 25% on the presses and 15% on the
folding machines. The profit after taxes was improved by almost 900%. Calculated on a five year period, the competitive advantage due to process automation amounts to
EUR 5.180.906 / NOK 40,490,404 / USD 7,131,880 and the investment pays itself back 20 times. The CIP4 Award places the offset printer from the North amongst the world-wide
most successful users of process automation technology.
