Fujifilm Graphic Systems : Fujifilm partners with HIFLEX Print to offer JDF connectivity PDF-Version:PDF version / Pressmore information
12 November 2004 - Fujifilm Graphic Systems today announces a strategic partnership with MIS supplier HIFLEX Print to offer customers JDF connectivity between the Fuji Open Workflow and HIFLEX MIS.
The JDF interface between the Fuji Open Workflow system and the HIFLEX MIS enables automatic creation of jobs in the prepress department. Once an order clerk or customer service representative creates a new order in HIFLEX, the job, its specification and customer details automatically appear in Pathway, the open JDF interface within Fuji Open Workflow. Throughout production, JMF messages from the workflow are passed back to HIFLEX in real-time, providing critical information required for job costing and scheduling such as proofs, plate production and authors' corrections. These realtime messages allow customer service representatives and schedulers on the HIFLEX system to see the status of the job as it progresses. Job costing accuracy is improved, as material consumption information is automatically supplied from the Fuji Open Workflow. This also eliminates double entry of data, improving efficiency and reducing the chance of human error.

Andy Walker, workflow solutions manager at Fujifilm Graphic Systems, comments: "Fujifilm has been working with HIFLEX to bring real JDF compliance to the marketplace. The integration with HIFLEX MIS means we can offer customers tangible benefits with job ticketing and the management of information throughout the workflow."

The Fuji Open Workflow is a modular, single page workflow that has been designed to support more than 150 different output devices from a wide range of manufacturers. Based around open industry standards, including JDF, ICC and PDF, The workflow comprises modular upgradeable components that can be configured into a single PC system, or distributed across multiple PCs.

The system features automatic in-RIP trapping, integrated pre-flight, built-in OPI, data integrity through the Digital Master, digital proofing, job management, post-RIP imposition, and other features that reduce waste, streamline operation and ensure maximum productivity.
