Four HIFLEX customers were awarded the highly prized "Best Practices" - title for the benefits they achieved through automation technology. The title was awarded
by the German "Institute for Rational Corporate Governance in the Print Industry" or "IRD" which is a print manufacturing institute whose charter goal
is the streamlining and automation of the printing industry. |
The four printing companies that received awards and recognized for the various categories of automation were:
German institute "IRD" awards these titles only to printing companies who have achieved verifiable and measurable benefits through automation.
The institute's director Eckhard Bölke established each company's benchmarks.
"Crucial to these awards are the fact that a company's daily work practices results in clear workflow optimization, increased productivity, cost savings
and customer benefits. That's exactly what I have thoroughly investigated when I visited the companies", says Eckhard Bölke who is qualified to make this
assessment by virtue of his diverse experience in print manufacturing.
Mr. Bölke has worked for more than 20 years as an process expert and he brings the experience and tough scrutiny to these contestants to observe what advancements have been made.

"Best-Practice-Company" Druckerei Köller+Nowak GmbH, Dusseldorf
HIFLEX eBusiness facilitates more success in the market and good around-the-clock customer service. The company offers its customers password-protected online
access to order processes, personalization of printed matter and inventory. "We have been following our business concept that we named 'ebusiness@print' since
the beginning of August 2002 and have realized a noticeable degree of added value for our customers", explains General Manager Ingo Nowak. The company also benefits
from automated order processing through HIFLEX MIS and JDF-connectivity to Kodak Prinergy and Adobe. Nowak adds, that this "reduced manual work and our direct labor costs".

Integrating HIFLEX Management Information System, Kodak Prinergy, and KBA and Heidelberg Presses via JDF enabled an significant increase in productivity and process
streamlining. Moreover, a new functionality in the HIFLEX MIS -- the conversion of CIP3 data (PPF) into CIP4 data (JDF) -- optimized the workflow between prepress
and press, led to time-savings, and reduced errors. Albert Contzen, Joint Managing Director of Mediengruppe Universal, sums up: "By networking our production with
HIFLEX MIS we dispensed with a lot of manual work and achieved more accuracy, reliability and efficiency".

The JDF-pioneer's innovative paper management and "just-in-time" or "JIT" paper disposition ultimately made the paper warehouse a thing of the past. The success
of this program saved DBM from having to move from Berlin, the largest city in Germany where real estate costs are their highest and space is a premium.
"We partnered HIFLEX and our paper provider, who now gets 100% of our business and warehouses almost all of our paper stock. The paper supplier even delivers finished
printed goods to our customers for us", states Henry Wittfoht, DBM's Sales Manager, "we couldn't have done this without HIFLEX's System".

Company-wide automation through a CIP4 awarded JDF-workflow helped Kraft Druck to increase its efficiency and productivity as well as improve customer service significantly.
"Kraft increased their press make-ready's by 25% with MAN Pecom Systems and when we integrated these systems into HIFLEX, we further increased make-ready productivity by
saving 2.5 hours per day through automatic job creation at the press machines" says Thomas Brickwedde, Kraft Druck's Head of office-based sales and IT. |
